1970 – New school library and learning center opened.
1971 – Fathers Tom Skindeleski and David Givey ordained.
1972 – Q. of P. senior Citizen club organized.
1973 – Queen of Peace parish sponsors a Vietnamese refugee family.
1973 – Rev. Francis Grourke appointed as assistant pastor.
1974 – Sister Chrisanne installed as new principal.
1976 – This year 443 pupils registered with two classes for each grade, sixteen lay teachers and five nuns.
1976 – Bicentennial celebrations.
1976 – In August, the International Eucharistic Congress in Philadelphia. Q. of P. volunteers help staff various events and hosted international and other out of town guests.
1977 – Free tuition begins to be a burden as more lay teachers have to be hired.
1978 – Rev. Sangermano, new assistant and Rev. Pascal Montelione as resident priest, Annie Campbell is heard to exclaim “I do not know how to cook Italian.”
1979 – Silver Jubilee year for Queen of Peace. Parish has 1041 families, 377 pupils. Msgr. Lynaugh celebrates the High Mass in Latin, followed by dinner at Williamson restaurant with many guest priests and sisters. A parish picnic in July and a Nostalgia Night in the Fall cormplete the anniversary year.
1979 – In October Pope John Paul II visits Philadelphia. Thousands attend the Papal Mass at Logan Circle.
1980 – Fall of Communism in Russia.
1980 – Sister Elizabeth new principal.
1980 – First Kindergarten at Queen of Peace.
1980 – Rev. Thomas Mullelly ordained.
1980 – Parish Block visitations resume.
1983 – In November Saturday Evening Masses started.
1983 – Parish Finance Committee formed.
1983 – Computer Center at Queen of Peace open, financed by the “Million Dollar Adventure” fundraiser using the Pennsylvania State Lottery drawings.
1984 – Father James Matteo is appointed assistant pastor.
1985 – Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth celebrate 100 years in America.
1985 – The Holy Name Society becomes “The Men of Queen of Peace” broadening the Spiritual and Social outreach to the parish.
1986 – Msgr. Lynaugh’s Golden jubilee, celebrated with a Mass of thanksgiving and a dinner at Williamson’s.
1987 – Parishioner Victor Subb ordained. Rev. Subb went to serve the Glenmary Missions in Appalachia.
1988 – The first Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion installed, with six men serving.
1988 – Msgr. Lynaugh and aging housekeeper Annie Campbell retire. A reception in the school hall attended by many parishioners who realized that this was the end of an era.
1988 – Rev. Philip J. Cribben is appointed as new pastor of Queen of Peace parish by Archbishop Anthony Bevilaqua and installed by Msgr. Francis Clemens on June 18. The school opened in September with an enrollment of 350 students and Sister Philomena as principal The church bulletin had an ad asking for a new parttime cook and a housekeeper for the rectory.
1989 – Our Sunday Ministry priest, beloved Father Rene celebrates his Silver Jubilee with Mass and reception in the newly refurbished church hall, officially designated as Lynaugh Hall.
1989 – End of free tuition; many parents still sacrifice to give their children a Catholic education.
1989 – Archbishop Anthony Bevilaqua visits the parish, the school and some elderly shut-ins.
